MARTIAL NEEDS TO RISE MORE TO THE OCCASION

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial needs to rise to the occasion for the club after lagging behind for long. United legend Gary Neville insists that the Frenchman produce more returns for the club he joined in 2015.

After showing flashes of brilliance initially the player has struggled with consistency. Despite the popular belief that he has potential, United seemed not to have reaped enough from the player. To be fair he struggled under Coach Jose Mourinho but since the Portuguese’s sack in December, Martial is still yet to hit that level. There was some reinvigoration under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but his form dipped towards the end of last term.

The player pledged to remain at Old Trafford for the next five years. He has started well, getting a striker’s dream goal against Chelsea in the Premier League opener. However it is time he gives way more return to the club that has maintained faith in him.

With the way things are now, Martial is likely to get the nod as centre forward while Marcus Rashford, who has been more productive, drifts to the left. Martial has the No. 9 shirt and the support of the coaches; it is time that he delivers upwards of 15 goals in the Premier League this season.

Neville claimed there is always this speculation that Martial could leave the club and end up being one of the best players elsewhere due to the sheer potency of his talents. Well, he has gotten his chance and he has to take it. Hopefully, there are no injury worries like sometimes in his United career. The club needs all the goals possible to sustain their season aspirations.

Manchester United play away at Wolves next; hopefully Martial gets more goals.
