Martin Skrtel might be leaving Liverpool soon

There is news that Martin Skrtel might be sold during the summer.

Jurgen Klopp will want to assemble a Liverpool team that will challenge for honors next season and as such will want to bring in some new faces. One area that he will want to make changes is the defense with Liverpool conceding far too many goals for his liking.

Klopp has already agreed with Joel Matip on a free transfer as a replacement for Martin Skrtel. The player will join in the summer when his contract with Schalke ends. Matip has made more than 250 appearances for the German team of which 28 has been in the Champions League. Matip is a quality player that will definitely going to improve the Liverpool defense.

With the Liverpool manager also interested in signing other players such as Mario Gotze and Xhaka there are chances that other players might also be leaving the Merseyside team very soon. Among players that have been rumored to be leaving Liverpool, we have Christian Benteke who has failed to make an impact under the German coach. The Belgian international has stated that he needs to improve his performance in order to fit into Klopp’s pressing game. But it is very likely that the big striker might be sold to make way for new players with Morata touted as being the replacement.

Martin Skrtel joined Liverpool in 2008 for a fee of £6.5 million. He was signed from Zenit Saint Petersburg where he made 113 appearances and scored 5 goals. He managed to make 314 appearances for Liverpool and scored 18 goals along the way. Now at 31, Martin Skrtel will believe that he still have a few years left to play at the highest level and will want to choose another club to continue his career.
